Shoshone Falls
22×30″
Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho is called the “Niagara of the West” and is in fact taller then Niagara. With all the moisture that the western states have received, this year has been a particularly spectacular.
I painted Shoshone Falls for my demo and book signing at the Twin Falls Barnes and Noble on May 6. I had a wonderful turn out and a great group of artists that had painted together for over 30 years had stayed and watched my process.
The foliage in the background looks like it's on fire. Beautiful work!
lovely work, full of a lot of energy :) and Rhonda is right, the foliage looks like it is on fire, adds a lot of interest to the background :)
Rhonda, after I completed this, a friend informed me that when Thomas Moan painted the falls, he felt that the falls were so powerful that he felt like it was on fire. So it's interesting that I unknowingly painted fire into the picture.
Thanks Jennifer. I'm glad you think so. I really had fun with this one.
