Aurora Borealis
11×14′
watercolor
As many of you know, I have been into the atmospheric lately, especially with the skies. And could I resist painting the Northern Lights? Absolutely not! Watercolor seems the perfect medium to capture the Aurora Borealis. The paint moves similar to how I imagine the lights move and change. I haven’t seen the real northern lights (only in photos and videos) but I hope that someday I can make it far enough north to do so. And I hope that it will be summer when I go.
Beautiful! I saw the northern lights as far south as central Indiana many years ago and it was surreal.
Rhonda, you really saw them that far south? Wow. I'm sure it was surreal. I heard stories of being able to see them here in Vancouver but I have yet to see them with so much cloud cover.
Oh Leslie!!! This painting is spectacular..so dramatic!!! and the colors are gorgeous. I love your previous sky painting as well and hope to see more!!!
Thank you Hilda! Your portraits are beautiful, as always!
