Pouring Watercolours with Opus Art Supplies and Winsor & Newton Watercolors

By May 19, 20192 Comments

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to create a how to video with Opus Art Supplies in British Columbia, Canada showing how I pour my watercolours using Winsor & Newton’s new jewel colors.

There are 5 new jewel colors but I chose to use only 3 of them for the pour. The colors used are Transparent Orange, Quinacridone Violet, and Aqua Green.

The piece I poured is a view of downtown Vancouver, BC from a friend’s balcony. I call it City of Glass and here is the completed piece.

OMG, this is fantastic! I am surprised the colors you are using – most artists who pour use the triad of the primaries, but you are side-stepping that and using the secondary colors and still getting glorious glowing color!

  • Thank you Rhonda! I was given 5 colors to choose from and it was difficult because they were all primaries except for Smalt Blue, which is not as staining as the other colors. I am happy with what I ended up with.
