This past week I received an email from Lynn, another watercolor enthusiast
asking me,
“When do you make the leap to call one self “Artist”?
That is a wonderful question.
I recently came to the realization that I am an Artist and have been my whole life.
(This realization was posted on my other blog and can be found here)
Since then, I have embraced the Artist that I am and have noticed that we all have an artist within us.
Art comes in many forms and you probably embrace many of them without realizing it.
It can be in something as simple as the way you look at an object and everything between that to being a professional artist.
Art is but a form to capture your personal world and experiences.
It is another way to express ourselves.
As the artist, Joseph Beuys said,
“Every man is an artist.”
Pablo Picasso even said,
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
I think that this child-artist gets scared and hides within as we age.
It takes some nurturing and a little care to bring it forth.
(and sometimes some pretty colors or shapes)
It also takes some confidence to say that you are an artist.
However, you are already an artist.
Just call that artist forth! Embrace the artist!
Give it that permission it needs to be an artist and to no longer hide inside of you.
Go ahead and announce it to yourself, your loved ones, and the world.
I Am An Artist!!
