Sunrise Over Mt. Baker
11×14″
A couple of summers ago, I was fortunate enough to house sit for one of my students while I was attending UVic and she was away visiting family.
Her apartment was right next to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel near the Marina (in Victoria, BC) with a wonderful view of Mt. Baker in Washington State.
Every morning for a month, I would witness a spectacular sunrise.
I made sure I was up early enough just to capture it.
This past December, I was able to use some of my photos for a couple of courses that I taught on skies.
Yesterday, I realized I had yet to post my paintings from these courses.
What a gorgeous, dramatic sunrise, Leslie! I love it!
Kathryn, you are always the first one to comment! Thank you:) I need to find the time to come visit your studio. Perhaps next month?
A beautiful sunrise and so apt as I check my iPad for arty news just as the sun incoming up in my part of the world, not dissimilar as I am on the river where too the sunrises and sunsets are so inspiring but I have not yet captured them well in these bright hues
Beautiful painting, what a sunrise!
Love this work. I wonder how you managed to merge the yellows and blues without turning it green! Fabulous.
Thank you Lorraine! You are lucky to have access to beautiful sunrises all the time. I can't wait to see how you paint them.
Thank you Gill! Hope your show is going well.
Thank you Asit! It is all about layering if you want to avoid getting greens in your skies.
