Blooming Hearts
11×14″
I’ve been teaching a Funky Florals in Watercolor class the past few weeks. The concept is to paint unusual florals. We spent a few weeks painting the above painting. It is of artichokes in bloom.
The artichoke is usually picked to be eaten before it goes into bloom. Once it does bloom, the leaves start to harden and it becomes inedible because of this. The artichoke is native to the Mediterranean and are also seen along the West Coast of Canada and the US.
Very nice Leslie, I love finding unusual plants for subjects too, this would have been fun for your class
Lorraine, I find unusual plants so much more interesting to paint. Maybe it's the intrigue from my viewers that make it this way.
This is so beautiful, Leslie!
Unique….Love the colors…
Oh, I love this, Leslie! And you must excuse my mistake – I thought when I first saw it [small version] I thought it was thistles. :)

Very beautiful -,I love the colors and mood!
Thank you Hilda, Kathryn, and Meera. Kathryn, they do so look like thistles. I guess that is why I like them also. They remind me of cute Eeyore:)
Preciosa pintura.
