Spanish Restaurante
9×12″
The past two weeks I have been back in Victoria teaching several workshops. The first workshop was Pouring Luminous Watercolors. It was nice to see some familiar faces in the class.
The above painting was one that I demonstrated. It is a scene from the village of Zuheros in Andalucia.
Zuheros is a beautiful white village set on a hill with a castle built into the rock. I started my class off with this one because I feel like the white village lends itself well to seeing values. Knowing how to interpret values is vital to the pouring process.
Glad to see you back into the thick of things Leslie. Settles after your move?
And of course, I'm a huge admirer of your watercolors!
I like the use of mono color and the sun hitting on the top. Very pretty . Did you try the restaurant?
Thank you Susan. It is nice to be back to teaching and painting. I had only been about 6 weeks but it felt like forever!
Jane, I am glad you like it. I was happy to have that sun effect work out well. I didn't try the restaurant though. Maybe next time.
Fantastic light.
Thank you Asit!
I watched your U tube on pouring and Wow…Lovely work!
Beautiful painting! I've never used the pouring technique, I'll have to figure that out some day!!
So love this Leslie..it seems lit from within. Have you heard the quote..and I can't remember who says this, but ..you're not painting the object, you're painting the light..? something to that effect.
You've captured the light beautifully..when you are doing online classes be sure to let me know! :-)
Thank you Karen, Carrie, and Deborah for your comments. You are all so encouraging! Maybe I will have to consider online courses in the future.
